Over the years, Plantronics has produced some iconic headsets that have been met with enormous acceptance worldwide. One of the many popular Plantronics headsets is the C052, which also goes by the name of CS510 and CS520, single ear and double ear models.
But given that change is a constant, a lot has changed in the sphere of Plantronics over the past few years. That’s because Plantronics and Polycom merged and formed a company that has gone by the name of Poly. And though this merger made sense due to both product lines appealing to the same buyers, this new name would prove to be short-lived.
Fast forward to today, and Poly was acquired by Hewlett Packard, so their products are now offered under the HP name. So ends the name so widely associated with business headsets; Plantronics, the end of an era.
The Plantronics name is not the only thing that has come to an end, because along with the name farewell, so too did some Poly products fall to the wayside. One of these products was the highly popular C052, otherwise known as the CS510, and CS520.
The C052 has represented a headset that people working in Contact Centers, busy offices, or at home counted on for reliable daily communication. And this wildly popular headset earned its reputation for a lot of good reasons, among them include;

So now that these headsets have come to the end of the line, what is a good alternative headset to fill the void left by the departure of these models?

Connectivity
The Poly/HP C052 connects to the vast majority of deskphones. The Discover Adapt 30 does the same. However, there’s an added advantage when using the Adapt 30 compared to using the C052 headset, with the advantage being the Adapt 30 also connects to a computer (which the C052 doesn't).
Having dual connection options is highly advantageous because it essentially future proofs you. You may be using desk phones today, but things change, and so does your technology. You’ll likely find yourself leaving the desk phones behind in favor of communicating through the computer. This has become very common today with Softphones, and video conferencing being widely used.
Without this flexibility, you’ll have to buy new headsets once you migrate away from desk phones, to computer based communications if using the Poly/HP C052. What if your phone doesn’t have a headset button/port? No problem! Unplug the handset coil cord, and plug it into the base of the Discover Adapt 30. This is easy too because there’s an icon of a phone handset above the port this cord plugs into (pretty easy huh?). Next, plug the included connector cable into the handset port of your phone. This is where I get to say bada-bing, bada-boom again. Bottom line is getting the Discover Adapt 30 connected is a breeze.
Conferencing
A popular feature found on many headsets today is the conference capability. This allows you to pair up to four headsets to one base for a conference call. Those utilizing this feature can be dispersed to the range of their headset, while still being on the call.
The Poly/HP C052, and the Discover Adapt 30 both offer this useful feature, but the Adapt 30 takes it to another level. Perhaps the only headset on the market to do this, the Adapt 30 can permanently pair up to five headsets to one base. Unlike the conference feature that disconnects the parties when the call is ended, the permanent pairing feature doesn’t. This means you can, for example, have multiple people answering incoming calls coming into one phone. This feature isn’t available on the Poly/HP C052, or any other headset that I’m aware of.
Coverage
When you buy a Poly/HP C052 wireless headset, you’ll get a 1-year warranty. When you buy a Discover Adapt 30, you get something far better. First, you get a longer warranty because the Adapt 30 comes with a nice 3-year warranty for longer coverage, and longer peace of mind.
The other attractive thing about this longer Adapt 30 warranty is it’s a no hassle, no paperwork experience. Let’s be honest, most of us like things to be simple, and for sure, nobody likes paperwork. With the Adapt 30 warranty, you get both; simple and paperwork free. The Long And The Short Of It
Making the comparison between the Poly/HP C052, and the Discover Adapt 30 is in no way suggesting that the C052 isn’t a great headset, because it is. The C052 could have never achieved its level of popularity without offering a good value.
